Romy Schneider is one of the most popular European actresses of all time. Her role as Elisabeth of Bavaria (Sissi) at the age of 17 catapulted her to super stardom in Europe. She even crossed the pond to make some movies in Hollywood. But try as she might, Sissi was the role that always defined her and Romy's tragic life, in the end, was in many ways like that of the character she played.

With gripping gravity and a driven sense of deep drama, Mel Gibson is back in bloody action. A steady urgency and a welling motive of uncompromised revenge fuels the basic but well detailed plot development, earning the film a decent nod of respect in its accomplishment of condensing a six-hour British TV serial into a two-hour movie. Gibson, it is obvious from his character’s breathtaking, burning will toward retribution against very bad men, wants this to work.

The film is not what you might expect, and plugs in to an idea that the universe and destiny will make everything right in the end, despite the tragedy. Jackson does a great job with the actors in this film too, but his real find was Saoirse Ronan who gives a wonderful performance as Susie. Jackson uses her character to create moments of joy, wonder and anger, with one stand out sequence, that will send chills down your spine, occurring when Susie realises that she is dead and she comes face to face with her killer. “The Lovely Bones” is an unusual yet engrossing film, and well worth watching on the big screen.

The industrialization of life and what it brings about is a theme that many writers and filmmakers have developed in their works. From “Wuthering Heights”, by Emily Bronte, in which Heathcliff is the character who is the symbol of the harsh industrial world to “Unknown Citizen”, by Auden, which demonstrates how a human being has lost his individuality in a soulless world and reduces into a confined being. In cinema, one of the…

When the first Twilight movie came out a year ago, and was such a hit that the sequels were immediately greenlighted, there was one big question on everyone’s mind. Who would play Jacob Black? Jacob is, of course, the male protagonist in New Moon, and his character appeared briefly in Twilight.

I am a big fan of Eastenders and love the character led storylines, and while I think Pastor Lucas has an intriguing and mysterious sickness in the head, I am getting a bit tired of seeing every committed Christian that appears in movies or TV films these days portrayed as a psycho. Certainly it happens in real life, that people just don’t get what faith is all about and the will of God becomes a ball of confusion in their heads leading them to do the wrong things. Instead of standing back and letting God take the reins, some people…

Though performed by Eminem, 8 Mile Road is a song written by his character in the film, B. Rabbit. It’s interesting to see the parallels between the two: the family struggles, concern for children (Eminem’s daughter and Rabbit’s little sister), a whacked out mother, and a wife/girlfriend that’s driving him nuts.

If you are the fan of “My lovely Sam Soon” or “My name is Kim Sam Soon”, you will definitely love this new drama “The City Hall”, play by the famous Kim Sam Soon or I would rather say Kim Seon-ah. In “The City Hall” Seon-ah plays the character of Sin Mi-rae who has work as a secretary for the pass 9 years without any promotion. Odd jobs like brewing and serving coffee for every single person in her team is part of her daily routine.
